Filius prodigus — História Bíblica

Luke 15:11-32

Pater ignoscit et filius domum revertitur.

There was a father with two sons. The younger came one day and said what no one should say: "Give me my share now — as if you were already dead." The father divided the inheritance. The son left. Far away, he spent everything — parties, friends who vanished when the money ran out. Hunger came. Shame came. He tended pigs and envied their food.

He remembered home. He remembered his father. He rehearsed a speech of humiliation: "Treat me as a servant." He walked back with dust on his feet and fear in his chest. The father saw him from far off — and ran. To run, for a man of that culture, was undignified. But love does not calculate dignity. He embraced. He kissed. He ordered sandals, a ring, a feast.

The older son, who never left, heard the music and grew angry. "You never gave me a young goat!" The father answered with tenderness and firmness: "Your brother was dead and is alive again." Forgiveness is not injustice — it is restoration.

The parable does not end with a dry moral lesson. It ends with a father with open arms — a portrait of God who waits for those who drifted away, who weeps with joy when the door creaks and someone returns.

Reflexão

Perhaps you identify with the son who left — or with the one who stayed, bitter, feeling obedience was never celebrated. Both needed the father. God does not minimize our pain, but invites us to the feast: someone returned, someone can return, you can return. Do not wait to be "presentable." The father runs before the explanation is finished. Today, what door do you avoid opening?

Para crianças

Son leaves: A son asked for money and left home. He wanted to do everything alone.
