Magi ab Oriente — História Bíblica
Matthew 2:1-12
Sapientes stellam sequuntur usque Bethlehem et Infantem adorant.
After Jesus was born in Bethlehem, magi from the East came to Jerusalem asking: "Where is the newborn king of the Jews? We saw his star." Herod was disturbed — and all Jerusalem with him.
The chief priests pointed to Scripture: the Messiah would be born in Bethlehem. Herod sent the magi on deceitfully, asking them to report back.
The star led them to the house. They entered, saw the child with Mary, and worshiped him. They opened their treasures: gold, frankincense and myrrh.
Warned in a dream, they did not return to Herod. They went home another way. Epiphany celebrates that Jesus is light for all nations.
Reflexão
The magi traveled far for a star and a desire to worship. We sometimes barely cross the street for Jesus. What "star" is God using to guide you to him? And what gift — time, forgiveness, generosity — can you lay at Christ's feet?
Para crianças
A special star: Wise men from the East saw a new bright star in the sky.
