Luke 19:1-10

Jericho buzzed as Jesus passed through. In the crowd, Zacchaeus, a chief tax collector, wanted to see him — but he was too short and no one made room. Tax collectors were hated for unfair gains. Still, Zacchaeus ran ahead and climbed a sycamore tree.

When Jesus reached the tree, he stopped, looked up, and called him by name: "Zacchaeus, come down at once, for I must stay at your house today." The crowd muttered. How could Jesus visit a sinner? Zacchaeus came down gladly and welcomed him.

In Jesus' presence his heart changed. He stood and promised: "Lord, I give half of my goods to the poor; and if I have cheated anyone, I restore it fourfold." It was not mere curiosity — it was real conversion.

Jesus declared: "Today salvation has come to this house." The Son of Man came to seek and save the lost — even those society had already written off.

Reflexão

Sometimes we feel "too short" to reach Jesus: too small, too guilty, too invisible. Zacchaeus shows that wanting to see him truly is enough. Jesus not only notices — he invites himself into our home. What do you need to "come down from the tree" and make right today?
